Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud

Until the Silver Cloud debuted in 1955, Rolls-Royce had used external coachbuilders to create the bodywork for its cars. The bodies for the Cloud, however, were constructed in-house. And although it might have looked traditional and old-fashioned, the Cloud was equipped with the latest in automotive technology - including self-levelling suspension, power steering and power-assisted braking.
The Mk 2 model, which debuted in 1959, was the first car to use Rolls-Royce's famous 6.2-liter V8 (later 6.7-liters), and even today its power output remains a closely guarded secret, known only to employees of the company. The Silver Cloud was a successful car for Rolls-Royce and its engine and transmission -a General Motors Hydramatic unit - would go on to appear in the company's most successful car ever; the 1965 Silver Shadow.
